Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ManagingPartner@GratzStreetBoys.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A syndicate is a group of individuals who collectively own a racehorse. Each member purchases a fractional share, which entitles them to a portion of the horse’s earnings and updates throughout its career.

Yes. When you purchase a share, you’re buying a percentage of ownership in that specific horse, as outlined in the syndicate agreement.

Typically, if the horse earns more than 6 months of estimated expenses, then you’ll receive a distribution share based on your ownership percentage, along with a detailed statement. There are still many variables that impact the decision to provide distributions. However, we aim to be completely transparent with finances and will provide all necessary information to owners upon request.

Share prices are sold in 1% increments. Typically, an initial investment covers the portion of the horse’s purchase price, a 10% fee for the actual cost of horse, and estimated expenses to get the horse to the tack. The amount of initial investment asked for to cover monthly expenses may vary depending on the age of the horse when acquired. For example, it will take a yearling longer to get on the track compared to purchasing a horse of racing age. This would be made clear for each horse in the syndicate agreement.

While we aim to select competitive horses, racing always carries risk. If a horse underperforms, we’ll communicate next steps—whether that’s continued training, a sale, claiming race, or retirement.

Yes! We offer opportunities for owners to attend races, visit the barn, and engage with the horse’s journey whenever possible.

Gratz Street Boys LLC serves as the managing partner of each syndicate and retains final authority over all decisions related to the horse’s care, training, race entries, and overall management. However, we value our owners’ voices—prior to key decisions, we’ll often send out surveys to understand investor preferences and perspectives. While the final call rests with the managing team, we believe in transparency, collaboration, and keeping our community involved every step of the way.
